Sanitary and Phytosanitary & Veterinary regulation

In this part of the CEFTA Web Portal you will find the most important sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary control procedures to be followed for each CEFTA Economy. The information about the control procedures includes but is not limited to: 1.The location of sanitary, phytosanitary and/or veterinary control offices including working hours in each office; 2.A description of sanitary, phytosanitary and/or veterinary procedures; 3.The documents asked by the respective authorities in order to obtain approval for entering, transiting or exiting the territory of the respective CEFTA Economy; 4.The officially approved documents issued by the respective authorities; 5.A description of the official procedures for sampling. In cases where the final destination of goods is one of the CEFTA Economies included in this web portal, please refer to the sanitary, phytosanitary and/or veterinary import procedures of that Economy. In case your goods exit the territory of one of the CEFTA Economies included in this web portal, please refer to the sanitary, phytosanitary and/or veterinary export procedures relevant to that Economy.




In the Republic of Moldova, the sanitary- veterinary certificate is issued by the authorities subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.

The Republic of Moldova is divided into 37 administrative-territorial units (Districts) and, in each district, there is a sanitary-veterinary department which is responsible with ensuring animals’ health and safety of animal origin products. Each sanitary-veterinary department has, at a local level, jurisdiction for all sanitary-veterinary points.

In conformity with the Government Decision no. 1073 dated 19.09.2008 regarding optimisation of crossing national border checkpoints by goods and passengers’ transport means, modification and repeal of some laws, the list of national border checkpoints is approved, allowing crossing of the goods subject to sanitary-veterinary control or phytosanitary quarantine.

All goods’ imports and exports subject to state sanitary-veterinary supervision are made by state border checkpoints specified in Government Decision no. 1073 from 19.09.2008 regarding optimisation of crossing national border checkpoints by means of goods and passengers’ transport, modification and repeal of some laws.

Veterinary Regulations

The list of goods subject to sanitary-veterinary supervision and control when imported and/ or exported is presented in the classification list approved by the Government Decision no. 1073 from 19.09.2008 regarding optimisation of crossing national border checkpoints by means of goods and passengers’ transport, modification and repeal of some laws.

The organization of veterinary controls at the national border checkpoints is established in accordance with the requirements specified in Government Decision no. 1408 from 10.12.2008 related to the approval of some sanitary- veterinary norms and the Government Decision no. 1099 from 29.09.2008 related to the sanitary- veterinary norms regarding sanitary- veterinary controls in case of animals’ import, which includes control of identity, examination of documents and of all support annexes, and also physical control.
